Bank and Identity frauds
A wide range of emails sent to mass users pretending to be from legitimate banking organisations, usually requesting you to connect to a web site and enter personal and bank account information.
Banks themselves do NOT use this technique and rarely if ever communicate with their customers by email and make it clear via their web sites about recent attempts to mislead customers by fraudulent web sites and spam emailers.
Web site links may appear to be the organisation in the email but the link itself takes you to a page on a different web site, sometimes with a domain registered in a name similar to the banking organisation.
Parting with credit, debit or other bank information via cards, statements or other documents via web sites or via retail and service establishments is potentially risky. Everyone should maintain a high level of security and never release information or confidential documents or cards to any unknown person however plausible they may appear.
Banks and other financial institutions are NOT liable for your losses sustained by these methods and do much to raise awareness of issues applicable and methods used to extract personal information from customers.
